The Animal Litigation Network (ALN) is a European network dedicated to making animal law work in practice.
2.Who is the Animal Litigation Network for?
ALN is primarily for European animal protection organisations that want to use the law more effectively to protect animals.
3.What are the criteria for joining the Animal Litigation Network?
We welcome established and credible animal protection organisations operating in Europe whose work is compatible with our mission and vision. They have a genuine interest in legal enforcement, litigation or other legal strategies and are willing to share knowledge and experience. Having lawyers on staff or previous litigation experience is not required; ALN also aims to help organisations develop this capacity.
4.What does participation in the network involve?
Participation is practical and flexible. Organisations can join network meetings, exchange information about legal cases and enforcement strategies, learn from others and explore opportunities for collaboration.
5.Why is an international network needed?
Many problems that animals face, including weak enforcement, inadequate inspections and difficulties holding governments or companies accountable, occur across Europe. At the same time, organisations are developing successful legal strategies in different countries, but much of this knowledge remains local. ALN connects and shares this experience, so that successful cases and legal strategies in one country can inspire action elsewhere.
6.Why would our NGO want to join?
Participants become part of a growing European network of like-minded animal protection professionals and gain access to legal expertise, litigation strategies, practical tools and international partners that can help them use animal law more effectively.
7.Is there a cost to join the Animal Litigation Network?
Participation in ALN is currently free of charge.
8.How do we join ALN?
Please express your interest via info@animallitigationnetwork.org and we will respond to your message within 3 working days.
9.How is confidential or sensitive case information handled within the network?
Members are expected to treat sensitive case-related information shared within the network with appropriate confidentiality. ALN does not disclose or publish details of an organisation's ongoing legal matters without permission. To encourage open and frank discussion during network meetings, ALN applies the Chatham House Rule: participants may use the information shared, but may not reveal the identity or affiliation of the person who provided it.
